Privacy Policy

DRAFT — pending attorney review. This document is a working draft dated July 30, 2026. It is not yet in effect and may change before it is adopted.

Plain answers about what this site collects, what we do with it, and how to reach us. We keep it simple: we use what you share to respond to you and run the service — and this site does not sell your information.

DRAFT — pending attorney review. Bracketed [ATTORNEY: …] notes below mark decisions that need counsel before this policy takes effect.

Who we are

Veteran Property Network ("VPN," "we," "us") is a housing marketplace and referral network for the military community, operated at veteranpropertynetwork.com. For anything in this policy, contact support@veteranpropertynetwork.com.

[ATTORNEY: confirm the legal entity name, entity type, and registered address to list here.]

What we collect

Information you type into our forms

Every form on this site tells you what it needs. Depending on the form, that is:

  • Contact form — your name, email, subject, message, and (optionally) your military affiliation.
  • Newsletter and "notify me" signups — your email address.
  • Listing inquiries and tour requests — your name, email, message, and the listing you asked about.
  • Partner applications — company name, contact name, email, company website, service category, and details about your interest, coverage, and budget.
  • Listing your property — property details you choose to publish (address, photos, price, features) and your contact details as the host.

Forms may also record the page you submitted from and an optional phone number if you provide one. We ask you not to send sensitive details like Social Security numbers, bank or card numbers, or passwords through our forms — we don't want them and don't collect them.

Account information

If you create an account, we collect your email address and password (stored hashed, never in plain text), or — if you sign in with Google, Apple, or Facebook — the basic profile those providers share, such as your name, email, and profile photo. If you verify your military service through ID.me, we receive your verification status from ID.me; your underlying documents stay with ID.me. Signed-in sessions use a session cookie (see "Cookies" below).

Information stored only in your browser

Saved homes and some sign-in conveniences are kept in your browser's local storage on your device. That data stays on your device unless you're signed in to a synced account, and clearing your browser data removes it.

Technical basics

Like nearly every website, our hosting infrastructure keeps standard server logs (such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested) for security and reliability. This site does not currently run third-party analytics or advertising trackers. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which means your browser requests those font files from Google's servers.

How we use it

We use what you share to respond to you and to provide the service — answering your message, sending the updates you signed up for, connecting you with the partner or host you asked about, publishing the listing you submitted, and keeping the site secure and working. That's the whole list. We don't use your information to build advertising profiles.

We do not sell your information

This site does not sell your information. When you ask to be connected with a service partner — for example, a lender — we share your inquiry with that partner so they can respond, and partners pay us for referrals and advertising placement rather than charging you. We only make that connection when you ask for it. [ATTORNEY: confirm how referral-sharing should be characterized under state privacy laws that define "sale" or "sharing" broadly (e.g., California), and whether an opt-out mechanism beyond this policy is required.]

Who we share it with

  • Service providers who run the site for us — our hosting provider (Vercel) and our email delivery provider, which transmits form submissions to our support inbox. They process data only to provide those services.
  • Sign-in and verification providers you choose to use — Google, Apple, or Facebook for sign-in, and ID.me for military verification. Their handling of your data is governed by their own privacy policies.
  • The partner or host you asked us to connect you with — only the inquiry you submitted.
  • Legal requirements — if we're required to disclose information by law, or to protect the safety and rights of our users and the public.

No other sharing happens. We do not give or sell lists of users, subscribers, or leads to anyone.

Email and how to unsubscribe

If you subscribe to updates, we email you the updates you asked for. You can stop anytime: use the unsubscribe link in any marketing email we send, or email support@veteranpropertynetwork.com with "unsubscribe" and we'll remove you. We'll still send non-marketing messages you specifically request (like a reply to your question).

Cookies and local storage

We use one first-party session cookie to keep you signed in to your account; it is HttpOnly (not readable by page scripts) and expires after about 30 days. We use browser local storage for saved homes and sign-in conveniences. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Your choices and requests

Email support@veteranpropertynetwork.com to ask what we have about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted, and we'll respond. [ATTORNEY: specify which state or national privacy laws apply to VPN at current scale (e.g., CCPA/CPRA thresholds, Virginia CDPA, GDPR if any EU audience), the required response windows, and any verification steps for requests. No specific statutory rights are promised in this draft.]

How long we keep things

Form submissions arrive in our support inbox (and, in development environments, a local database) and are kept while we need them to handle your request and run the service. Account data is kept while your account is open. [ATTORNEY: set a concrete retention schedule per data type before adoption.]

Security

The site is served over HTTPS, passwords are stored hashed, sessions use HttpOnly cookies, and forms include anti-spam and rate-limiting protections. No website can promise perfect security, but we keep the surface small: we collect little, and we don't hold payment card data at all.

Children

This service is for adults arranging housing and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; if you believe a child has submitted information to us, email us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

When this draft is adopted, we'll date it here and note material changes on this page. [ATTORNEY: confirm the notice mechanism for material changes (page update vs. email notice).]
